I think we need to do our best to tempt the freshers on here when they arrive….

The castle sounds well ace. I'd love to go if I can and Ppp's suggestions sound eminently sensible. (Totally irrelevant, but when I saw 'St Briavels' my first thought was the Chalet School books).

I'd say

- not with feast. At least not with the feast, since it would probably mean that much fewer people would be there. Of course, we could have another feast there. The website talks about a banquet… even though it's medieval. We don't care, authenticity has never been a strong point for our feasts!

- I'd say not this term because (a) it'll be cold and dark later in the year and (b) the freshers will have very little kit. I'd suggest to have it towards the end of Hilary, as a kind of practice run for York maybe (although it's nothing like York, at least freshers get used to be in kit all day)?

Do we want to go this term? Or later in the year? Do we want to go for the Feast?

Will this be too much this term for the freshers?

Discuss, discuss
